South of Mount Royal, just inside the northeast point of Lake George (now Keetha Point), Francis Kinloch acquired a 600-acre tract of swamp land to develop a rice field. Kinloch died before the work was completed and his several East Florida properties were abandoned.

Keetha Point, granted in 1765 to South Carolina planter Francis Kinloch to develop a rice plantation. The tract was at the north end of Lake George, where the water re-enters the river channel on its downriver flow toward the Atlantic.
